Gnar Bar Installation Instructions
Read Before Installation!
***Completely remove clamp bolts from shifters and brakes before installing on handlebars***
1. Unscrew and completely remove bolts from clamps on shifters and brake levers
2. Slide the control components onto the bar as you normally would. At the bend in the bar, you will want to have the open end of the clamp on the outside of the bend, and rotate it back and forth as it works past the “knuckle.”
3. If the controls will not work past the bend, gently pry the clamp open a bit more with a flathead screwdriver, and they should slip right on down the bar.
4. For optimal comfort and control you will want the apex of the bend resting just to the outside of the center of your palm.
5. Using a sharp blade on a hack saw you can cut excess bar material off each end of the handlebars to give you the width you desire.
6. Put the clamping bolts back into the controls and lightly snug them on the bar.
7. Put the handlebar into the stem and position appropriately.
8. While in the saddle, position handlebar to the most comfortable position you have ever felt while sitting on your bike! Tighten stem clamping bolts to the manufacture’s recommended torque.
9. Position controls so they are comfortable and within the reach of your fingers. Tighten control clamps to the manufacture’s recommended torque.
10. Test out your new ride. You may want to adjust the brake levers and bring them in a little if the bar positioning made the reach a bit far.
